John Denver became a star with the folk-based songs that he wrote, many of which were located in Colorado. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. was born in Roswell in New Mexico. He fell in love Colorado and eventually settled in Aspen. Denver's songs for his home state have drawn many to Colorado. G. Brown of the Colorado Music Hall of Fame states it is true that John Denver is unlike any other performer who has the recognizable image of Colorado. Denver was inducted into the Hall of Fame as its first member in 2011. Denver has become the image of Colorado for a lot of people all over the world. Through my many travels, I've encountered many individuals who do not hail from Colorado. People will declare, "Oh John Denver!" When they hear you're from Colorado. Brown said. Denver's first Top 10 hit as a solo artist after a short career performing in small folk group comprised of Take Me Home Country Roads written by Bill Danoff. Danoff composed the track along with Johnny Cash in mind but after Denver saw an early rendition he knew right away the track could become the next hit single. A few days after performing to an excited audience on the streets of Washington D.C., the performer recorded the track.
